About Us

This is an open challenge to all boat manufacturers.  H2Orbit currently is not offering a prize for this given current funding levels.  As that situation changes so will the prize situation.  If someone out there wants to sponsor this challenge please contact us via the feedback form.

Circumnavigate the Earth - non-stop - in an ocean going vessel whose only means of locomation can be engines powered by fuel derived from the water in which it sits.

There could actually be different classes of vessels associated with this challenge.  We are even thinking about races.

The vessel might incorporate solar panels into the upper decks to help fuel HHO generators that power engines of various sorts.  The configurations are pretty open. HHO combustion is an option as are fuel cells.  The types of engines used are open as well.  Internal combustion or gas turbine?  Can't stop so you have to have power at night....  gotta keep them props turnin.

  • Circumnavigate the globe
  • Route must be via: Panama Canal, Java Sea, Straights of Melaka, Red Sea, Suez Canal, Straights of Gibraltar
  • Starting and ending points can be anywhere but must be at the same place.  That is you must end where you started.
  • Provide certified evidence and proof of the feat.
  • Effort must be accomplished in a manner where the endurance time can be documented to within 1 second.  (After all - someone else is going to want to beat that time).
  • The mission must be carried out in a manner that maximizes safety for the crew and everyone they encounter.
  • Infraction of any law invalidates the attempt
  • 100% of any fuel used in locomotion MUST be derived on-board and directly from the water in which the vessel sits.
  • Zero hydrocarbons can be used in the production of energy consumed by the vessel.

That means HHO generators are Ok.  It means fuel cells are ok so long as the hydrogen in those fuel cells is manufactured by the vessel and from the surrounding water.

The spirit of the intent is to have a comlpetely green vessel performing a real task without hydrocarbons.
