Ecotourism, or ecological tourism, is a form of tourism which has both environmental and social connotations. It is defined both as a concept-tourism movement and as a tourism (specifically sustainable tourism may be defined by its lack of definition.

There are an array of scientific oriented vacations people can spend their time off enjoying.  They are sponsored by groups as diverse as universities to your average tourist agent.   Their curricula focus is as diverse as the groups sponsoring the activity.  You can participate in anthropological studies or participate in archaeological expeditions.  If you can't find one that interests you, start one up and ask your local travel agent to help you.ecotourism

Opportunities here are really endless and wide open to your imagination in terms of interest areas and activities.

• Scuba Diving from a 'live aboard' vessel.   When you contact these folks, tell them you want to see places where the reefs have been destroyed or damaged AND you want their help in understanding what caused that specific damage.  They know where these reefs are and usually avoid them as customers usually want to see pristine beauty.  This might also be where your travel agent can help you out by booking more similar minded people on the same trip.  That increases the chances that the vessel actually goes where you want it to.
