L-1 lies at a point between the Earth and the Sun where the force of gravity is essentially neutralized by the two. In the Earth-Moon system L-1 would lie at this same location but between the Earth and the Moon.
In the Earth-Moon system, L-1 would be a good location for the Lunar power satellites to beam power down to a lunar base.
