No one has any crystal balls and if any tells you they have all the answers you tell them to take a hike.  The science is just not in and may not be until well after it simply doesn't matter any more.   Some of what we need to do will have to be done on intuition and faith.

NOTE: Anything written here about the future will invariably miss some details.  What we are attempting to do is point out areas of risk and solutions to mitigate that risk.  We invite credible scientific assistance and ideas here.  If you want to contribute, use the feedback form.  Presuming any of this comes to pass we will continue to update it all so that it represents a best view "from where we are now" approach.

We will also point out that there are many many credible authors and scientists around the world that have written literally thousands of books and papers on thse subjects.  We encourage readers of this site to do their due diligence.  We offer our bibliography as one place to start. What we place in this section pales in comparison to those works.  We highly suggest you review those, look over what we have here and then help us keep what we have here - "a view from today".  Today - what do we think the best case and worst case looks like.  What we have here is dynamic and will change as we all learn.

NOTE: Stricktly from a Knowledge Management point of view - any single individual can easily be overwhelmed with details.  We encourage people to skim over the entire site and dive in where their specific interests lay. 

Some very deep pocketed businesses (and maybe nations) are going to do everything they can to persuade as many people as they can that their position is worth protecting.  They will pull at every string and use every trick.  They will spend millions to protect their entrenched position.  At the end of the day - an open and enlightened free society will see through these efforts.  They will see what needs to be done and direct their duely elected representatives accordingly.

This section of the site has three 'future tensed themes' if you will.  A best case scenario.  A worst case scenario.  The third area is actually comprised of multiple pages.  What we would like to do is present an expanded future view of different physical locations, how they evolved, how they interact, and what part they played in healing Earth's biosphere and create a sustainable environment.   This third area will not from inception contain all the answers.  In fact right now we do not have the staff to even maintain this section.  The intent is to have a future tense page for the Earth, Moon and each of the Lagrangian points.

There are two "Lagrangian Systems".  The one depicted below is the Earth-Sun system.  A very similar arrangement exists with the Earth-Moon system.   That latter system has been the subject of many studies and books.  The Earth-Moon system is most likely the first one to be exploited simply because it's closer.

Each of the Lagrangian points have its own attributes that will most likely help to define its character of use in the future.  Travel to and from one to the other and to either the Earth or the moon will have different requirements depending on the specific origin and destination.  L-1 is ideal for making observations of the Sun.  L-2 is a good spot for space-based observations.  L-3 also good for space based observations is a flexible location.  L-4 and L-5 have long been seen as sights for colonization, power platforms, and manufacturing sites.  Their relative size and location make them ideal for these purposes.
