Often we hear about something being planned that is significantly counter to the ecology. We're not talking about accidents here. We're talking about things like "new power plants", processing plants granted "toxic" permits by county commisioners, wide-spread use of pesticides when alternatives are available. Those kinds of things. Things that with a little diligent thought could have an outcome that is safer and more in line with sustainability. That is won't cause further harm if its implemented correctly. Sometimes these situations even present themselves in a manner that the public can actually do something about it - provided they know its occuring and have the opportunity to do so.
Statutes in most states in the United States mandate that such situations that call for review by the public also require that an announcement be placed (specifically) in a newspaper. Well these days not many people actually read newspapers. I wish more did, but that's a different problem.
So this page is dedicated to announcing situations that are still pending
FP&L is looking to, has asked for, has been granted preliminary approval for building a COAL (read that as hydrocarbon consuming) power generation plant. They will be consuming real estate not only for the power plant but for the rail roads needed to store the coal to be consumed. This plant will dump hundreds if not thousands of tons of CO2 into the atmosphere at a time in Earth's history those kinds of behaviors need to stop.
H2Orbit has already written email notes to FP&L, Florida's Governor, and county commisioners with voting authority on the issue asking them to please guide FP&L to construct a plant that will not consume hydrocarbons. It can be anything else. The health of the biosphere demands it.
We would also like to point out that FP&L is a public company. That means its stock is for sale on the open market. That means for a nominal amount of money YOU can OWN a piece of that company. Now imagine, every citizen of the State of Florida OWNING several shares of stock in FP&L and in one unified voice TELL them they will ONLY construct GREEN power generation facilities in our state begining immediately.
Remember if you own stock you are an OWNER of the company. By LAW they MUST listen to shareholders. If they don't shareholders have rights to replace the board of directors and affect control of the company.
Buy a few shares of stock and tell FP&L management to make green decisions - or else.
