In Loving Memory: Charles Ward McGowen

McGOWEN, MR. CHARLES WARD, JR., age 87, of Vestavia Hills, AL., passed away on Saturday, March 16, 2002. He was a native of Cuba, AL. He attended The University of Alabama, where he was a member of the ATO Fraternity. He graduated from Birmingham School of Law. He retired from McGowen & McGowen Law Firm. He was a member of Independent Presbyterian Church; a World War II Veteran; past member of the Alabama and American Bar Associations. Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Mrs. Ruth Curry McGowen; son, Mr. Charles (Karen) Curry McGowen of Pompano Beach, FL.; daughter, Carol Ward McGowen of Birmingham; granddaughter, Lindsey Dee McGowen of Cleveland, Ohio; grandson, Charles Curry McGowen, Jr. of Atlanta, GA.; three sisters, Mrs. Margaret M. Tate, Mrs. Louise M. Vaughan both of Cuba, AL., and Mrs. Nell A. Vintson of Selma, AL. Graveside Services will be held on Tuesday, March 19, 2002 at 3 p.m. at Elmwood Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Monday, March 18, from 5-7 p.m. at Ridout's Valley Chapel. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Children's Fresh Air Farm, 501 Park Avenue, Bluff Park, AL. 35226 or c/o Independent Presbyterian Church. Services under the direction of Ridout's Valley Chapel, 879-3401, in Homewood.
